There was a vast number of ethical issues raised in the movie â€Å"Enron-the Smartest Guys in the Room† but the four I am going to focus on are listed below. Art Anderson, Ken Lay and all of the other executives did a number of unethical things which ultimately brought down Enron and affected thousands of employees and their futures. The bottom line was that each and every one of them acted out of greed for the almighty dollar. 1- Encouraging employees to invest and buy stock in Enron when they knew the truth about the lack of value in the stock. As an employee you trust in your management to make the best choices both for you and for the business to succeed. Enron invested a lot of money with Merrill Lynch and they didn’t want Enron to stop investing so Merrill Lynch got rid of the employee who question Enron, when in reality they should have listened to him. Merrill Lynch’s decision not to listen to him showed other employees that they better keep quiet with their opinions or their jobs would be on the line. If they listened to him they might have lost the deal with Enron, but in the end they lost it anyway and lost millions along with it. Merrill Lynch’s main focus should have been their employees and their investors, not solely Enron. They should have stuck to their code of conduct and followed their values. 3- Manipulated earnings. Enron executives and accountants cooked the books and lied about the financial state of the company. They manipulated the earnings and booked revenue that never came in. This was encouraged by Ken Lay as long as the company was making money. Once word got out that they were disclosing this information, their stock plummeted from $90 to $0.26 causing the corporation to file for bankruptcy. This deception on behalf of the executives and others in the organization who hid this vastly affected anyone who had stock in Enron as well as stock in other energy corporations. Lusitania Essay It was 2:10 p.m. on May 7, 1915. Leslie Morton, a lookout on the Lusitania,screamed, Torpedoes coming on the starboard side. Two explosions followed. Within 18 minutes the huge liner, once the largest ever built, sank to thebottom of the Celtic Sea. 1,195 out of the 1,959 people aboard died. WaltherSchwieger, commander of the German submarine U- 20, who had fired a singletorpedo 750 yards away from the ship, later called it the most horrible sight hehad ever seen. The Lusitania entered service between Liverpool and New York on September7, 1907. Funded by the British Admiralty, the Lusitania, built by the CunardSteamship Company, was required to double as an auxiliary cruiser in case of war. This was a secret agreement between the Admiralty and Cunard. On May 12, 1913she was put in drydock to be double plated and hydraulically riveted, as well asmodified for the application of guns. War was declared on August 4, 1914, andthe ship was sent again into drydock. There she was armed with 12 six-inchguns(Simpson 60). Britain wanted to ship war materials over the Atlantic, but there was anembargo of shipping munitions on passenger ships. America also tended to publishthe cargo manifests so that the Allies as well as the Germans would know what isbeing shipped. Britain found a loophole in this. New cargo added at the lastminute did not go on the original manifest, thus a supplementary manifest wouldbe submitted 4 or 5 days later. U-20 and U-30 were immediately sent tothe British Channel and southern Irish waters(Simpson 66-69). On May 5, Winston Churchill attended a meeting concerning the Lusitaniaand the U-20. They concluded that Juno would need an escort, so assistance wouldbe given, most likely the destroyer Flotilla. But this did not happen. Forunknown reasons, Juno was recalled to Queenstown, and no destroyers weresent(Simpson 70). On May 5 and 6 three ships were sunk by the U-20, the last without warning. For all of my life I have been moody, so I guess when my I had mood swings my parents chalked it up to being a teenager. I always knew that it was more than just moodiness, but I had no idea what was wrong with me. When I am in a manic state I feel empowered and clever. In this phase, people find me very charismatic I also love myself and others and am very creative and productive. I also make unwise decisions during this phase like investing in one of my creative ideas which are not realistic.My manic phases can also jump to irratbility and imparience with others, when I amin this stage of my manic phase all that I can see is that everyone is an idiot, and the world is against me. This is when my charisma wears off and I end up alienating people. Luckily, I have some friends and family that stick with me no matter what I do to hurt them. Eventually this manic stage wearsoff and I crash into a deep depression. I feel remorse and sadness for the harm that I have caused those around me. I spend alot of my depressed state apologizing to people for the harm I have inflicted on them. I try to clean up my mess. I also can not sleep during this phase so I force myself to do the everyday things such as cleaning the house, showering, as well as reading books and doing anything I can to keep my mind occupied. If I am not busy during this time my mind fills with ideas of my suicide. I have written my final intructions and apologies so many times I cant even begin to count them. I know every method of suicide possible, its a wonder that i am still alive. Fortunately one of my close firends found one of my suicide notes and told my family and close friends. They talked me into finding help I eventually checked myself into a psychiatric facility because I did not want to go to my home alone. After 4 hours of filling out insurance papers and talking to people I eventually saw a doctor at this point I panicked and ignored their advice. I had never checked myself into a facility like this because I was afraid if everyone saw how crazy I am I would never get out. I have now realized that the facilities help and do not harm. The doctors put me on medications for a while to tes the waters. The firts was Lithum, a drug that naturally occurs it is a mood stabilizer which helps control my mood swings. They also suggested stronger drugs such as depakote, depacine, depakene and epilim these are all derivatives of a substance called valproic acids these are called anti convulsants they help me stay calm. The doctors have given me a self medication regien that will help me control my moods. They had me change my eating habits. Rather then having my usual samll breakfast, medium lunch and large dinner they had me eat three meals of equal size and on a certain schedule. They said eating a larger meal later on in the day can make my bipolar disorder harder to treat. They also said it is imperative to have a set sleeping schedule. Going to bed at the same time everyday and waking up at the same time. they say lack of sleep can trigger mania. Along with a set eating and sleeping schedule the doctors have me make a mood chart to help illistrate which medications are working. it is also important in helping me find my triggers such as stress, foods, people, etc. I alo have had to learn how to manage I am also seeing a therapist who listens to me and helps me manage my disorder. .

Wilson in his book of literary criticism, On the Design of Shakespearean Tragedy, discusses the influence of the imagery of the play:    It has indeed been suggested that the logic of events in the play and of Othello’s relation to them implies Othello’s damnation, and that the implication is pressed home with particular power in the imagery. Tsarist Rule in the years 1856-1917 and Communist Rule from essays Although we are looking at two different forms of government rule it can be perhaps suggested that there were similarities in these forms of government but it may also be suggested that fundamentally and ideologically they were completely different types of states. Both were centralist states, which were prepared to use totalitarian methods to rule over a vast, difficult to govern, state with its many different geographical and ethnic regions and enormous population. The Russian empire covered a sixth of the worlds land surface, with 12 different time zones and various ethnicities in which approximately 50 per cent of those were Slav this indeed created integration problems which of course made the country hard to govern. Perhaps we can assume because of this centralised control and government was required in order for the empire to be held together. The characteristics of both regimes were very important, Stalin developed his cult of personality and the Tsars ruled as absolute Monarchs. The Tsars were extremely autocratic, the supreme rulers of both church and state and answerable only to God. A period of reform started with Alexander II (1855-1881) with the hope of strengthening the monarchy but his successor Alexander III (1881-1894) turned back the clock, his reign saw a period of repression. His son Nicholas II (1894-1917) succeeded him, a conservative who was not suited to rule as an absolute monarch. I think that the diverse smaller nationalities within the Russian empire suffered under both regimes. The Tsar had a policy of a unified Russian empire (Russification) and integrated such countries as the Ukraine and Poland into the Russian empire but this indeed did cause the problem of a clash of ethnicities and with their integration into the Russian empire.
